Viewing and visually representing - 11.15.23
What do you think of when hearing 'viewing and visually presenting'? Do you think of art or a stage performance? Well, when it comes to student education it may mean something different.
As a teacher, I need to make sure that my students have the capabilities and skills needed to discuss what they see and view. Every student may not feel comfortable with the same mode of representation. Examples that will be used in our classroom are concept muraling, sketch to stretch, graphic organizers, and graphic novels.

language arts and the internet - 11.8.23
Blogs, Vlogs, and Podcast, these are 3 things you may have heard of before. They are also something your student will experiment with and produce. With the growing nature of technological ability in today's world, these are skills that can be honed in on and put to educational use.
One-quarter of adolescents are constantly online. Channeling that independence into self-directed learning can motivate students to create content to reinforce information or remediate knowledge.
In the classroom, it is not just left up to my students to embrace technology for learning. I will set an example by creating a digital classroom, blogging regularly to reach them and their parents, and creating assessments that allow for deeper understanding, such as rubrics and ePortfolios.

Earth Day Field Trip - 9.26.23
All three 5th grade classes from Paddock, as well as, the three 5th grade classes from Stoddard were able to attend an Earth Day event. This field trip was held at Camp Jefferson outside of Fairbury, NE. Our students were able to listen to presentations, complete hands-on experiments, and take time to walk and spend in nature.
I do think the kids would tell you their favorite part was our bus getting 'lost'. All the direct roads to Camp Jefferson were closed. We got to drive through gravel roads with interesting livestock and sites. :)
